If there were any positives in the defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, Loftus-Cheek’s convincing second-half cameo was probably one of them.
Some Chelsea fans on social media agree that Ruben Loftus-Cheek should be given an opportunity in the starting line-up against Juventus on Wednesday.
Loftus-Cheek showcased his physical abilities in the game, winning five of his seven duels, as well as completing two dribbles, despite playing just 14 minutes in the game.
“He’s a different type of player,” Thomas Tuchel told Stadium Astro after City game.
“He’s not a passer, he’s a dribbler, a runner who drives the ball. This could be helpful against City. He did very well, it was nice to see.”
Unsurprisingly, many Chelsea fans on social media feel that the club’s academy graduate deserves another chance as a starter against Juventus.
Bear in mind, Tuchel has previously spoken about Jorginho and N’Golo Kante’s fitness problems, and the trip to Turin could be an opportunity to rest any of these two before they face Southampton next Saturday.
