The Chelsea midfielder is hopeful – he will be back from his illness in the next couple of days.

Chelsea continued their strong start to the season by brushing aside Newcastle 3-0 away from home.

Mount who was absent against Newcastle through illness, posted a message on Twitter after the result. He hailed the display from teammates and gave an update on his fitness situation:

Gutted to have missed the game but what a performance from the lads to get the win!

Woke up and didn’t feel 100% (non COVID related) but will hopefully be fully recovered over the next couple of days. Up the CHELS! Mason Mount (@masonmount_10)

Mount has cleared up his absence today. The midfielder was declared fit to play in Friday’s press conference, so it was a concern when he was absent from the match day squad at 2pm today.

Chelsea will face Malmo [A] on Tuesday in the Champions League, so it’ll be intriguing to see if he can recover in time.
