The current European and world champion Chelsea football club on Tuesday made it a six consecutive Champions League home games win by putting up a convincing win against the french super side Lille who won the french top flight league last season.
Chelsea on the other hand has the responsibility and great task of defending the title.
Facing a physical LOSC team was not going to be a no easy game for the defending Champion Chelsea and Tuchel as he said in the pre-match interview.
Key Three Things We Learned About Tuchel In Chelsea Game On Tuesday:
Firstly Chelsea head coach was able to stabilized the atmosphere for the game. Before the game, the German tactitian had addressed the club fan based not to make mockery of Remelu lukaku following his miss-fortunes on games.
The former Inter Milan and Belgium forward has had a difficult start in his return to the London club.So to ease the pressure from him and to avoid chanting from fans Chelsea head coach had to start Kai harvet ahead of the Belgian forward.
Secondly Tuchel approached the game with full intensity. He game the physically fit French side to tough game by starting his more physical players. Jorginho was dropped and kante alongside kovacic were on the midfield to add more depth to the defensive making it 5 players back on the 4-3-3 formation. Mason Mount and Hudson-Odoi were also dropped for Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic to start.
Thirdly was his smart substitute:
When kovacics pick and injury in the second half of the game, many thought Jorginho was going to be introduced into the game, but to maintain the intensity of the game especially in the defensive angle against a dangerous and more physical french side Lille, Loftus-Cheek was introduced instead.
Loftus fitness and balance was enough to contend with the physical LOSC side. Cheek fell deeply behind being very careful with his moves while Nkolo kante was a bit more offensive which he assisted in the second goal of the game that sealed a super home win for the Blues in the first leg of the game.
The current European champions goes into the second tie of the game with more advantage while Lile will be hoping to turn things around for the blues in France.
