Reports have stated that Chelsea have already told Brighton that defender Levi Colwill is not for sale this summer.

According to the Mail Online, the Blues have reiterated this point during any discussions that have taken place over the potential transfer of Moises Caicedo.

The Seagulls have already made a number of efforts to sign Colwill already this summer, after being fortunate enough to have him on loan last season.

However, the word out of Stamford Bridge has been those efforts have been rebuffed instantly, with them very keen to keep hold of him this summer.

It has since been claimed that this feeling is echoed by new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has made it clear that he sees the Englishman as player who can be crucial to his plans.

Chelsea say Colwill is not for sale

The possibility of the two clubs engaging in a swap deal this summer has been mentioned by plenty, with Chelsea looking to bring in Caicedo to bolster their midfield.

There are some at the club who are hopeful that he will be the perfect partner to Enzo Fernandez, who joined the club as the record transfer back in January.

Plenty of departures in that position have left the Blues a bit short of options in the middle of the park.

N’golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, who were both important first team players when fit, have both moved on, with the Croatian likely to return to West London as part of Manchester City.

While there are a number of young options at the club to give opportunities to, it is likely that there will need to be at least one big name brought in the position to give Pochettino a chance at success.
