The Blues were beaten 1-0 by Wolves at the weekend, and now are looking for any sort of confidence ahead of the Champions League tie with Real Madrid which starts this week.

As discussions over who will become the permanent manager rage on, Azpilicueta has hinted the club may benefit from hiring Enrique.

He said: “There are parts [of the club] who negotiate, that we trust with doing what is best for the club. We will see what happens. My best games with the national team were with Luis Enrique as coach.”

“If there is one thing he has shown it’s his idea of the game. He’s very faithful to how he wants to play, how he works, on day-to-day basis, in what he wants to look for, through positioning, through play. He’s a very authentic person & won’t hide how he feels.”

It feels as if the fact they are waiting until the end of the season suggests that Nagelsmann has the job to lose, with him expected to be wanting to wait until the summer before taking his next job in management.
