- Football is about balance and the Blues have done very well defensively so far, Tuchel says.
- The manager admits that his attack can be better as they lack incisiveness in the final third.
- However, that problem isn’t a major one and the team will always try to find ways to be better offensively, Tuchel adds.
“Football is all about balance. It is a team effort. It’s come naturally to use to stop the opponent from creating chances and it’s a unique quality we’ve showed,” Thomas Tuchel told the media (via Chelsea FC).
“We lack some precision in the final third and some goals, but we’ve never lacked the workrate against the ball, touches in the box, shots. Maybe we lacked precision and composure but maybe that’s our fault because we work so hard against the ball.
“It’s about balance and I believe we have that balance in how the players feel on the picture, so why focus too much on problems?
“Our key is always to improve and we will never stop thinking about how to create chances, offensive solutions, where to create spaces and to accelerate our attacks. But we also think about counter-pressing.
“It is the hardest thing to score in football so let’s keep on trusting the guys to show their qualities.”
While Chelsea are unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel so far (13 games), the Blues have scored only 14 goals in these games, with 3 goalless draws and the biggest margin of victory being 2 goals.
The attacking stats aren’t very poor, but as Tuchel said, the team does lack some effectiveness in front of goal and will have to keep working to better themselves.
