Chelsea star Kai Havertz commented on Burnley’s playstyle as he expressed his frustration over the 1-1 draw on Saturday.

It looked very promising for the Blues after the 22-year-old took the lead in the 33rd minute of the game.

Unfortunately, despite their dominance, Chelsea failed to extend their lead and were eventually punished for not killing the game in the last 10 minutes.

The hosts should be familiar with having to face teams that defend deep at this point, but Havertz understandably could not hide his frustration with the result. The player told NBC Sports after the game:

“In the last seven matches, I think we were very good, including today. We knew that Burnley are not a team that wants to play football. But yeah, they had one chance and scored a goal. We had a lot of chances but also scored just one goal, so we lost two big points. Of course, it’s frustrating.”

Kai Havertz might simply point out Burnley’s famous defensive style, and even The manager Sean Dyche admitted that they had no other choice given how dominant Chelsea were. Dyche said after the game (via beIN Sports)

“Chelsea were by far the better side in the first half, they created so many chances. We didn’t get near anywhere near for the game at all, they controlled it. Sometimes you have to do it like that. They’re flying high and top of the league, sometimes you have to stay in it to win it — we call it, which we did by hook or crook.”
