Thierry Henry gave Conor Gallagher a glowing review following another fine performance on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea.
Henry loved everything about Conor Gallagher’s performance as Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Brighton on Monday night, describing the Chelsea loanee’s display as ‘outstanding.’
The 21-year-old has been thoroughly impressive on loan with the Eagles so far this season, scoring twice in the Premier League and he was important for them again at Selhurst Park on Monday.
The midfielder won the penalty which saw Wilfried Zaha open the scoring, with Palace looking set to win the game before a Neal Maupay equaliser in stoppage time.
Despite the disappointment of dropping two points for Palace, their young midfielder caught the eye of Henry, who was full of praise for the man who will still be hoping to shine for Chelsea in the future.
Asked what he liked about Gallagher’s performance, Henry told Sky Sports:
“Everything. The way he puts pressure, the way he makes his team play, he makes the box. He has an eye for a goal at the minute, he’s way higher than when he used to play for West Brom on loan from Chelsea.
“I think he’s a player that loves to be unleashed, so let him go, let him go and put pressure, let him go and play, let him go and tackle.‘I thought he was outstanding. Conor Gallagher shouldn’t be at the end of a team that didn’t win the game today.”
Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has been hugely impressed with Gallagher as well, and expects plenty more goals from him this season.
“He has got the ability to remain calm inside the box,“ said the Palace boss last month. “He is a really good finisher, has got a lot of energy and works really hard for the team. When he is in that kind of situation he will score goals for us.”
Gallagher is on loan at Palace for the rest of this season, with his Chelsea contract running until 2025.
