Frank Leboeuf, a former Chelsea player, has acknowledged that Arsenal is one of the Premier League clubs to watch this year. Before assessing whether they can win the championship, he wants to see how they perform against Manchester City.
This season, Mikel Arteta’s team has performed well, winning six of their seven league games. Their lone defeat came against Manchester United earlier this month, although they have made strides from their catastrophic start to last season.
Leboeuf stated that the players’ development was evident in the victory over Brentford while speaking on ESPN FC. He stated:
"We must admit that after 7 games, things have been going well for them since, in my opinion, they have developed compared to previous season. We can compare their performance versus Brentford from last season to how much they have grown. They dominated the game for 90 minutes, knew exactly what to do, were effective up forward, strong at the back, and put in a lot of effort in the middle of the park. Everything was there to demonstrate to us their competitiveness."
When asked about the possibility of the Gunners winning the league this year, he added:
"When I look at Man City, they seem to be stronger than everyone else. Now that Arsenal is there, I'm not sure if they can win the title. But if they continue doing that and remain focused on what needs to be done, they may shock a lot of people and a lot of teams. We'll see what happens when they play Man City."
