‘Talented’ Chelsea player will undergo more tests today on injury, he’s a doubt to play vs Burnley

Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk is now an injury doubt ahead of this weekend’s game against Burnley.

That is according to a report from The Evening Standard.

They claim that Mykhailo Mudryk will be assessed today (Wednesday) with more medical tests on a suspected injury problem.

It is understood that the 22-year-old Chelsea winger was substituted off at half time with a quad injury in Monday night’s 2-0 Premier League defeat away to Fulham, which is why his fitness status is currently ‘unclear’.

Now, the Ukraine international is labelled a “doubt” to play away at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Mudryk scored his first ever Chelsea goal in Monday’s Fulham win, showing great skill and composure to tuck in a left-footed finish. This comes at a time when he’s getting a run of starts and looking threatening with some of his performances.

It seems typically bad luck for this squad of players that an injury strikes just when there’s something to cheer about.

We’ll wait to hear an official line about Mudryk’s availability to play Burnley, but we certainly don’t want him risked on the eve of the October international break.

Blues defender Levi Colwill recently said he thinks Mudryk has got everything in his game to become one of the world’s best, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

From the outside looking in, it definitely feels like this is a united squad of players all pushing each other to do well.

Mudryk’s got individual qualities and raw potential to be some player if all the pieces of the jigsaw are pieced together. We’re growing increasingly confident that Mauricio Pochettino is the right head coach to oversee his journey, too.

If the Ukrainian speedster is unavailable against Burnley, the door could be open for either Ian Maatsen or Raheem Sterling to impress out wide.
