Wesley Fofana’s Chelsea debut is captured well in a compilation, demonstrating the club’s signing of a superb defender despite his high price tag.

In a rumored £70 million transfer this summer, Fofana moved from Leicester City to Chelsea.

On Saturday, he played in his debut game for his new squad, a 2-1 victory over West Ham United.

The 21-year-old made his debut in a three-man defense alongside Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly, two seasoned veterans.

And the rising defender proved his value by playing outstandingly at the back.

Fofana cut a cool figure and read the game beautifully. He also played from the back, demonstrating his prowess with the ball.

Even though the Frenchman didn’t record a clean sheet in his first start, Chelsea supporters on social media were quite pleased with their new player as he continued his impressive debut in the second half.

One person tweeted: “An 8/10. didn’t misstep a single step.”
“His composure on the ball really jumped out to me today,” another user tweeted.

What a jewel we have under our belt, a third person said.

Another person said: “In the second part, he gradually became more comfortable and self-assured. A fairly encouraging performance. Excited.”

Although Fofana has only recently joined Chelsea, it already seems as though he and Koulibaly, a fellow summer arrival, have a great rapport.

When the Blues face Dinamo Zagreb to open their Champions League campaign the following week, Fofana might keep his place in the starting XI.
