Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has Chelsea star Timo Werner’s defence amid criticism over the striker’s latest performance.

The national team manager Hansi Flick spoke about his dissatisfaction over Werner’s positioning during the game.
Flick also mentioned how he still trusts Werner to lead the line. But his criticism of Werner unsurprisingly attracted much more attention after an underwhelming performance.
However, Werner earns support from Germany teammates. The 25-year-old’s tenacity has not just won over the manager, but also his national teammates, as Serge Gnabry pointed out (via Sport Buzzer).
“As a team, we are all behind Timo,” said the Bayern Munich star.
“Maybe he lacks a bit of luck at times. But he gives his all, hangs in there — that’s always the most important thing.”
The manager was also asked again about Werner during the same press conference on Sunday, and this time, he responded with a more positive tone.

“I cannot change what is happening right now. After all, it’s freedom of expression. I can only say that Timo is doing a very good job with us. It was all about creating space against a sturdy defence again and again and going deep. He did that very well.”
