Roy Keane was full of praise for Romelu Lukaku, who completed his £98million transfer to the Blues on Thursday evening after a spell with Inter Milan following his disappointing time at Manchester United.

Romelu Lukaku has been unveiled as a Chelsea player for the second time, penning a five-year contract after leaving the club back in 2014.

The Belgium international was signed for Manchester United in 2017 for £75million but failed to live up to the hefty expectations placed on his shoulders, notching just 42 goals in 96 games during his two-year stint with the Red Devils.

Still, former United captain Roy Keane has claimed that Lukaku will score at least 20 goals a season with Thomas Tuchel’s side.

“The timing for a player is huge, the club and Man United were maybe at the wrong time. Because there was no doubt he was a brilliant player. His stats will tell you that, even going back to his time at Everton,” Keane told Sky Sports’ ‘The Overlap’ podcast.

“Sometimes, a brilliant player will come to your club and it’s just not the right fit. The chemistry’s not right, maybe it’s the coach or manager. He might have a few injuries.

“Lukaku went off to Inter Milan, don’t tell me you were surprised that he scored so many goals? Obviously he worked on his diet but he matured himself, going to another country.

“So when you think of him coming back, he’s guaranteed goals. Chelsea, the way they’re playing, the sharpness, the quality they will have on the ball, it guarantees you 20 goals.”

Lukaku was in imperious form last season for Inter Milan, providing an impressive 24 goals and 10 assists in Serie A last season as the Nerazzurri won their first league title since 2011.
