Chelsea are reportedly willing to splash out £102million to sign highly-rated Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The Blues tried hard to bring in a centre-back over the summer, and were heavily linked with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde but the deal didn’t materialize.
After selling Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma and Marc Guehi for big-money fees, Tuchel is searching for another defender, especially considering Thiago Silva is out of contract at the end of the season.
Chelsea are now turning to Juventus stopper De Ligt – with Abramovich’s full approval. The Blues are said to be very keen to capture the Dutchman’s signature and are willing to pay a club-record fee to sign him, as per AS.
The report claims, Chelsea owner Abramovich is personally advocating for the 22-year-old defender, who is under contract with Juve until June 2024.

De Ligt’s Juventus departure is likely to be on the cards based on his agent’s (Mino Raiola) comments.
When asked about two of his clients, De Ligt and AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli recently, Raiola told Tuttosport:
“The two are among the best defenders in Europe. De Ligt has a contract, while Romagnoli ends his contract in 2022. I think they could play together in Turin, but watch out: Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He could leave Juve at the end of the season. The market works like this.”
