Reports have claimed that Manchester United are willing to offer defender Harry Maguire in a swap deal for Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils are looking for a way to get rid of the England international this summer.
It now looks more likely than not that Mount will have already played his last game for the club he grew up playing for.
He has reportedly come to an agreement over personal terms with United, as what once seemed an unlikely move away gets closer.
However, Erik ten Hag’s side will need to bridge the gap between theirs and Chelsea’s valuation of the 24-year-old. While he only has a year left on his current contract, the Blues are not reportedly going to budge regarding their stance.
This may see United look to alternative methods in order to get a deal over the line.
United offer Maguire for Mount
It has now been reported that they are willing to include Maguire in any negotiations for Mount.
The defender moved to Old Trafford for a whopping £80m, however things in recent years in particular have not gone so smoothly.
This has led to him hardly playing this season, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane being preferred at the back.
Despite their willingness to get rid of Maguire, it is unlikely Chelsea even entertain a move for the Englishman. When looking at the club’s current squad, one of the positions they are strongest in depth is centre-back.
Their options have now been added to by Levi Colwill, who despite forgetting at one point he actually played for Chelsea is back after his loan spell at Brighton.
He will be pushing for first team football though, leaving a big decision to be made by Mauricio Pochettino.
