Reports have claimed that Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana is set to be loaned out in the summer for next season.

According to the Evening Standard, the likelihood of the club signing another striker in the upcoming window is likely to leave the January addition struggling for minutes in West London.

The winter transfer window brought a host of young talent to Stamford Bridge, with Fofana being the first player to make the move as the club attempted a rare January rebuild.

Whether he was brought in with the plan to play this season or be an investment for the future, appearances have been extremely hard to come by since his move to England.

Sporadic displays have actually brought a bit of promise regarding his ability, however they have been far too rare for him to be considered in any higher regard than that.

He was perhaps brought in with the short-term ambition of being in the Armando Broja role, after a knee injury during the World Cup ruled him out of the rest of the season.

The Albanian was also hardly being awarded starts after his loan spell at Southampton the season before.

Reports have now claimed that it is likely Fofana goes out on loan at the end of this season in order to accommodate a big signing that will be made in his position.

Victor Osimhen is a name that has been strongly linked with a switch to an elite side at the end of the season after a stellar campaign leading Napoli to the Serie A title.

While Chelsea cannot offer him European football immediately, it will surely not be long before they’re back if they add the Nigerian to their ranks this summer.
