Chelsea could be forced to send £18m Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos on loan if the star’s work permit falls through.

Chelsea F.C. completed the £18 million transfer of the 18-year-old from Vasco de Gama. Since then, Andrey Santos has dominated the South America Under-20 Championship, scoring five goals in as many games.

Globo claims that Graham Potter‘s third signing from a total of eight in January did not have enough points to be eligible for a work permit in the UK.

According to reports, Chelsea has applied for an exceptional talent visa to allow Santos to play in the Premier League.

Vasco de Gama allegedly has the option of re-signing Santos on loan as part of their deal if the West London club is unable to get his work visa.

Santos would need to agree as well, and other teams, such as those taking part in the Copa Libertadores, might be interested.

Chelsea FC signed 18-year-old Andrey Santos from Vasco de Gama on January 6 for £18 million.

Santos continued his incredible run at the South American under-20 Championship by scoring once more against Venezuela.

At the tournament, he has scored against Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Santos participated in Monday’s 2-0 victory over Paraguay for Brazil.
