Chelsea’s right-back Reece James was one of the first to welcome his younger sister back to west London after her switch from Manchester United

The 21-year-old sent a welcome message to sister Lauren after her move to Chelsea was confirmed on Friday.

Lauren James was announced as a Chelsea Women’s player on Friday morning, penning a four-year deal with the Blues having impressed with Manchester United.

She had scored six goals in 12 Women’s Super League appearances throughout last season following the Red Devils’ promotion and also earned a nomination for the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year.

The move, valued at a reported £200,000, sees James head back to Chelsea beginning her youth career with the Blues.

On confirming her Chelsea’s switch, she said:

“It’s a great feeling to come back home, to a great club, the club I started at the age of six.

“To be able to play for the first team now and come back here to Emma and the rest of the group is a great feeling.

“I’m excited to get started and I can’t wait to meet all the fans at Kingsmeadow when the new season kicks in.”

Whilst Lauren expressed her delight, older brother Reece also hailed the move with a touching Instagram post.
