Darren Bent claims that Chelsea star Reece James is better defensively than Liverpool counterpart Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Reece James enjoyed an amazing weekend where he scored and assisted in a 2-0 win for the Blues away to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Alexander-Arnold impressed with an assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory at home to Norwich City.
The two right-backs have plenty of similarities.
Darren Bent, who’s a pundit for talkSPORT, feels though like James has the edge over Alexander-Arnold when it comes to the defensive areas of their game.
“I genuinely think that Reece James is pushing Trent [Alexander-Arnold] in terms of being the best right-back,” the former Premier League striker told talkSPORT.
“Every time I see Reece James play… I get it, Trent with his deliveries, there’s no one better than him, but his deliveries are not far off him, by the way. And defensively he’s better, Reece James is better.”
James and Alexander-Arnold are naturally two players that people compare, so competition must be fierce when Liverpool host Chelsea at the Anfield this weekend.
They both fit into the category of modern full-backs and it’s going to be intriguing to see how they both perform in the weekend.
