Reece James was welcomed back to Chelsea training by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through a cheeky yet thoughtful social media exchange.
After a protracted absence due to injuries, James rejoined Graham Potter’s team to mix with some of the players.
Potter made the choice to add the England international to the 25-man roster before they flew to Abu Dhabi for more World Cup preparation.
The outstanding fullback for Chelsea hasn’t played since injuring his knee in October’s match against AC Milan.
Gareth Southgate had been working extremely hard to get fit in time for the competition in Qatar, but he ultimately made the decision not to take the chance.
James chose to stay in recovery mode and is now aiming to make his Premier League debut after the World Cup is over.
Chelsea plays Bournemouth on December 27th, following a friendly match against Aston Villa on December 26th in Abu Dhabi.
James’ availability for any game has yet to be determined.
But by rejoining Potter’s club, he is at least taking steps in the right direction.
Once James is available for competitive action, the manager, supporters, and players will all be thrilled—a feeling of excitement that is already permeating the camp.
To celebrate the defender’s advancement, Aubameyang and the defense engaged in a funny back-and-forth on each other’s Instagram stories.
The seasoned striker opened the show with a photograph of himself asking James, who had his hands in his head, a question.
The same photo with the text “It’s been a while bro” was subsequently James’ response. Remains rusty.
With that same image and the words “No worries you back that’s the most important,” Aubameyang ended the chat.
Pierre, we couldn’t have said it any better ourselves.
