Chelsea have absolutely dominated the loan market in the last few years, sending players all over the world to improve their value, or give them experience at the top level.

Now they’re taking things to the next level – doing the same thing with talented young coaches.

Simmonds, the west London club’s highly regarded Under 18s assistant manager, has joined AFC Wimbledon until December, where he will work with the League One side’s first team.

Simmonds was part of Chelsea’s youth team back when Jack Cork and the like were coming through, but is finding more success on the coaching side than the playing side. We will be watching his progress with interest.

It’s all a bit strange really, but good luck to him nevertheless!
