Christopher Nkunku has already acknowledged that connections to some of Europe's top teams are "flattering" and that it is "no secret" that he is attracting interest from clubs looking to sign him.

Despite having only recently signed a new deal with RB Leipzig, some rumors claim the attacker has delayed part of his medical in preparation for a summer transfer to Chelsea.

The 24-year-old was wanted even when Thomas Tuchel was manager and is rumored to have completed testing in Frankfurt in preparation for a 2023 transfer to Stamford Bridge.

🗣 Ben Jacobs: "The next step is for Chelsea and Leipzig to agree on a deal or for Chelsea to commit to the release clause itself, which would mean only a summer move. Chelsea would like to move fast to take other suitors out of the equation hence their actions so far."

🗣 Fabrizio Romano: "Chelsea sent a long-term contract bid to Nkunku to prepare the deal for 2023. It's not done yet, as Chelsea & RB Leipzig will speak about the fee: €60m release clause or a different deal structure."

The 24-year-€60 old’s million (£53 million) release clause cannot be activated until next year, according to a source, which also claims that RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku underwent secret medical exams with Chelsea in the summer.

After scoring 35 goals in 52 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions the previous season, Nkunku has a number of suitors across Europe. The agile forward has continued this strong run of form into the new season, scoring six goals thus far.

🔥 Christopher Nkunku registered 55 goal involvements last season:

👕 52 games
⚽ 35 goals
🅰 20 assists

🗣 Matt Law: "Worth noting that his medical does not offer a guarantee Chelsea will sign him next summer, but it does currently make them favourites and gives them an advantage." 🤞

After leaving his childhood club Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 to pursue first-team football, Nkunku has scored 53 goals in 147 games for the German team, earning a spot in the French national team in the process.

🆕️ Chelsea have added RB Leipzig chief Christopher Vivell to their list of candidates for the technical director role at Stamford Bridge.

At this point, it is believed that talks between the clubs are still ongoing, and according to report, Chelsea has added Christopher Vivell, the sports director of Leipzig, to their list of potential candidates for the open position in west London.

Christoph Freund of RB Salzburg was another target, but he will now stay with the Austrian team.

Speaking to Telefoot in June, the Nkunku said:
“It’s no secret there are clubs that are interested in me. Yes, it’s flattering. But it’s also flattering to have a club like Leipzig doing everything to keep me.
“Here, we will have to think carefully and make a good decision. The World Cup is coming to life and this is a parameter to be taken into account.
