Kurt Zouma ‘expected to leave Chelsea this summer’ after more than seven years at the club… with Jose Mourinho’s Roma ‘interested in a loan move’ with an option to buy.’

Former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho’s Roma are among the clubs interested in taking Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on loan, claim reports in France.

Kurt Zouma is reportedly expected to leave Chelsea this summer, seven years after joining the west London club.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues in January 2014 for £12m from Saint-Etienne, and has spent loan spells away from the club at Stoke and Everton since then.

Zouma has been on international duty with France at Euro 2020, but his attention will now turn to his club future and a big decision could soon be made.

According to Julien Maynard, journalist for French publication Telefoot, Zouma is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as he looks for a fresh start.

Wolverhampton Wanderers had made an approach, but the player turned them down.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be interested too, although Roma would certainly be an intriguing option.

Mourinho is seemingly happy to pick Zouma up on loan with option to buy from Chelsea.

His contract only runs to June 2023 and he had loan spells at Saint-Etienne, Stoke City and Everton over the last few years.

Despite being a centre-back, Zouma scored five goals in 36 competitive games for Chelsea last season, all of those coming in the Premier League.

Although he was in the France squad for UEFA EURO 2020, he did not receive any playing time.
