Chelsea’s Mendy had an incredible debut season for the Blues, and ends the season as a European Champion after keeping a clean sheet in Saturday’s UCL final.

However, Mendy created history by keeping nine clean sheets in the competition this season…the most that has ever been kept by any goalkeeper in their debuts in the tournament according to OptaJoe

The 29-year-old goalkeeper fully deserves his success after settling in flamboyantly at Chelsea, and helping the team so strong defensively and eventually involving himself in Thomas Tuchel’s team that beat Manchester City to become the European Champions.

Mendy has taken it to social media to express his gratitude

“Even if raising this trophy was part of my wildest dreams, the road to get there was long and turbulent. This makes the victory even more beautiful.

Only hard work, determination and sacrifice can make goals come true, no matter what path is taken.

I have a special thought for my Chelsea team, for the staff, for the supporters, and my Senegalese brothers and sisters. It is together that we got here.

Everything happens for a reason. Never give up. Never lose hope. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’m grateful”
