Man United’s Eric Bailly Is Up For Sale As Jose Mourinho Prepares A Raid On His Former Club

Jose Mourinho wants to move Eric Bailly to Roma, and Manchester United is willing to trade the defender for a fairly low fee.

Bailly was the first player to join United during Mourinho’s time at the Theatre of Dreams. According to recent sources, the manager wants a reunion at Roma.

Bailly arrived at Old Trafford in July 2016 after Manchester United paid Villarreal about Β£30 million to sign him. After 18 months of success in La Liga with Villarreal, the centre-back arrived with great expectations.

Bailly has since played 113 games for Manchester United, contributing to their victories in the Community Shield, League Cup, and Europa League.

Bailly could be up for grabs this summer for less than Β£10 million after failing to fulfil his early promise following his Β£34 million switch fromΒ La Liga

However, Bailly’s time with the club has been marred by injuries and a string of disappointing performances.

Last season, he was dropped by both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. As a result, Bailly only appeared seven times in all competitions.

The Ivorian has two years left on his United contract. But the Red Devils are willing to let him go this summer. The deal clearly did not work out, and it would be beneficial for both United and Bailly to restart.

According to the Daily Mirror, Roma have ‘stepped up’ their interest. They have made Bailly a primary target in order to improve Mourinho’s defensive options for the forthcoming season.

Roma are aware that United are willing to sell the 28-year-old. This is especially true following United’s acquisition of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

United cannot expect a high fee for Bailly due to his poor fitness record and lack of consistency over the last few years.
