The final warm-up game before competitive play resumed included a mix of youth players and veteran first-team stars for Graham Potter‘s team at the Blues’ Cobham training facility.

In the World Cup third-place play-off between Croatia and Morocco, Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech did not compete, while many other players who were eliminated earlier in the competition played for Chelsea.

Compared to some of its opponents, Chelsea hasn’t played as many friendlies, although they did play Aston Villa earlier this month in Abu Dhabi.

Potter’s team lost by a score of 1-0, but Armando Broja’s severe injury was a worse setback. He underwent surgery for a ruptured cruciate ligament, and it is anticipated that he will miss the remainder of the season.

Eighth-placed Chelsea, who will host Bournemouth on December 27 in their first Premier League game back, will then travel to face Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day.
