There were three Chelsea players in semi-final action. All three Blues featured as Cesar Azpilicueta played at right-back for Spain whilst Jorginho and Emerson started for Italy.
After offering a vision of the future, and a game for the ages, Italy reach the final of Euro 2020 in the most vintage manner.
They hung on, dug in, and eventually got through on penalties. The Chelsea midfielder brilliantly converted the winning penalty as Italy beat Spain 4-2 in the shoot-out at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.

He performed his trademark hop before tucking the penalty past Unai Simon, sending the Spanish goalkeeper the wrong way.
The highlight of the first half saw Chelsea’s Emerson hit the bar as the wing-back was causing riot down the Spain right hand-side in an all Blue batle against Azpilicueta.

Federico Chiesa opened the scoring in the 60th minute, with Alvaro Morata cancelling out his strike 10 minutes from time.
Both teams played out a period of extra-time before the game went to a penalty shoot-out.
Manuel Locatelli missed Italy’s opening spot-kick, with Dani Olmo of Spain blazing over the bar.
Italy then scored their next three, with Spain converting two as Alvaro Morata – the player who initially saved them – missed their fateful last kick.

Jorginho made no mistake from the spot, scoring a superb penalty to set up a showdown against the winner of England vs. Denmark.

The Chelsea midfielder simply stroked home Italy’s. He gave his country revenge for 2008, as they now have even greater conviction about winning this summer.
