Andreas Christensen’s contract is gradually running down, and it’s becoming critical that the club get him locked onto a new deal.
Perhaps it’s no coincidence then that they decided to spring this interview with the Dane on the club’s official website. In it, he’s encouraged to talk about how successful the club is, how much he’s enjoying his own personal renaissance, as well as admitting to the importance of the trust that his manager has shown in him.
“I know [Thomas Tuchel] ]believes in me,” Christensen said.
“I had a difficult period but luckily now it’s going the right way for me. Things can move fast in this world but the most important thing is just that I have never given up,” the defender continued.
Carrying on where he left off last season, Christensen has already won a man of the match award this campaign, and has also seen a lot of the defensive talents behind him in the pecking order depart.
It looks like his position to lose now – it’s just a question of whether he wants to stay here to make the most of it himself.
