Bayern Munich are hoping that Chelsea will try sign Sadio Mane from them this summer, according to reports.

Journalist Christian Falk has claimed that Bayern Munich are prepared to sell Sadio Mane after just one year at the Allianz Arena.

Apparently, the Germany heavyweights hope Chelsea step forward with a bid for the 31-year-old winger.

“Bayern are hoping for an offer from Chelsea – offers from Premier League clubs are welcome in Munich – but there are no seriously interested parties at this stage,” Falk told CaughtOffside.

Mane, who was regarded as one of the world’s best forwards very recently, has had a challenging debut season in Germany.

The left-winger has still scored 12 goals and made five assists in 35 Bayern appearances this campaign, but the former Liverpool star isn’t hitting the heights he did at Anfield for so many years.

He cost the Bundesliga giants £35million (BBC) to sign from Liverpool in the summer of 2022.

It’s unclear on how much Bayern would demand for him this summer, though.

Journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport earlier this week that Chelsea links towards Mane come from Bayern hearing of interest from London.

If you had asked us about signing Mane a couple of years ago, we would have snapped your hands off.

The rapid Senegal forward would probably go straight into our starting line-up, but is it really an area of the pitch we should be prioritising this summer?

We would much rather see Chelsea focus on signing a new striker, defensive midfielder and goalkeeper.
