The England and Tottenham top striker Harry Kane has failed to return to Tottenham training today as the forward pushes for a transfer away from the north London side.

The 28-year-old has informed Spurs of his desire to leave this summer in search of silverware and was subject of a £100m bid from Manchester City earlier in the transfer window.

The England captain has been on a post-Euro 2020 holiday and was due to return to the club for training today, but Sky Sports have revealed the 28-year-old has failed to show as he bids to engineer an exit.

Kane is understood to believe he has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Spurs allowing him to leave the club this summer, though chairman Daniel Levy has so far insisted the forward is not for sale.

Kane is keen to sign for Manchester City with the Premier League champions in the market for a new centre-forward, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side have also submitted a record-breaking £100m offer for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

Reports last week have suggested that City would not be able to finance deals for both players without raising significant funds through sales and it remains to be seen how the latest developments regarding Kane impact the club’s transfer plans.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been credited as admirers of the player, though Spurs’ reported demands for a fee of around £150m make a deal appear difficult for interested suitors at present.
