According to the journalist Santi Aouna, Graham Potter wants Chelsea to complete the signing of Malo Gusto from Lyon.
According to rumors, the Blues have narrowed down their preferred right-back signing candidate to the teenager.
In order for the club to find protection and eventually rivalry for Reece James at Stamford Bridge, the area needs to be addressed urgently.
Of all the club’s recent increasing ailments, the absence of the England international has been felt the most keenly.
Potter has been desperately looking for a suitable replacement in his squad during the time the 23-year-old has been unavailable for selection.
He has looked to Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah and even Raheem Sterling to try and fill the void, each with little success.
Now, it looks as if the Blues are ready to strengthen in the area with the signing of Gusto. Aouna has claimed that Potter is a big advocate of the deal.

He said: “Agreement found between Malo Gusto and Chelsea. The player wants the Blues. Six-year contract / progressive salary.
“Potter definitely wants it. Chelsea will increase their offer to find a final agreement.”
The full-back has already described himself as a ‘powerful’ and ‘attacking’ player, two terms which are often used to describe James.
Chelsea’s spending has remained lavish this month, after what had been a lively first transfer window under new owner Todd Boehly.
This has included big money moves to bring in the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and Noni Madueke, as they look to rescue somewhat of a respectable finish this season.
There are reports that they are still interested in strengthening the midfield too, with links failing to go away over the potential additions of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo this month.
