Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher is one of the very best young players in the Premier League right now.

The 21-year-old has been tearing it up this season with London rivals Crystal Palace. Gallagher is a brilliant product of the Chelsea academy, but was sent out on loan this year for the third consecutive season.
First of all, the energetic box-to-box midfielder spent the 2019/20 campaign impressing during spells in the Championship with Charlton Athletic and then Swansea City.
He followed that up last season by grabbing the eye in a West Brom team that were eventually relegated from the top flight. However, he’s taken his game up another level so far this season.
Gallagher already has four Premier League goals for Palace, along with two assists. His overall impact at Selhurst Park both on and off the ball has been superb, too. Rio Ferdinand has hailed the quality of the Chelsea loanee:
“Shoutout Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher… If you’re looking at young players in the league at the moment, his name (Gallagher) will be up there,” Ferdinand said.

Trevoh Chalobah has been the latest Chelsea academy graduate to break into the first team. The 22-year-old centre-back is proof that the Cobham production line continues to churn out serious talent. Gallagher, who’s been with Chelsea since a boy, is another rising star.
