L’Équipe report via AFP that Al-Ittihad are “furious” with Karim Benzema (36) after he returned from his holidays late during the winter break and missed the resumption of training in Jeddah. The former Real Madrid striker was left stranded in Mauritius and hence missed the start of Al-Ittihad’s training camp after the Saudi Pro League’s winter break.
This may prompt Chelsea to sneak in with an offer to test the waters for the high scoring striker, but it remains to be seen whether anything can be done or not, with the likelihood being he will end up staying in Saudi.
