Carney Chukwuemeka scored both goals as Chelsea defeated Brighton in a friendly game played behind closed doors on Saturday.

Just over a week after leaving in a £20 million compensation deal, Graham Potter led his team against his former club in a match at Brighton’s Amex Stadium.

Both teams utilised a mix of senior and young players as they adjusted to the Premier League games being postponed due to insufficient police presence following the Queen’s passing last week.

The semi-competitive training match gave players who played RB Salzburg in the middle of the week and are scheduled to join their national team squads some time off.

For players like Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, Denis Zakaria, and Conor Gallagher, it meant runouts.

Chukwuemeka won the game and took his chances in front of Potter despite not having made his first-team debut since moving in a £20 million deal from Aston Villa.

The next Chelsea game is against Crystal Palace on October 2 at Selhurst Park.

This weekend’s scheduled match against Liverpool has been postponed, and a new date has not yet been set.
