Atletico Madrid have confirmed Joao Felix’s stance as the possibility to a permanent Chelsea move opens.

Chelsea Transfer News:
What’s next for Joao Joao?

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo reaffirmed the club’s desire to re-sign Joao Felix this summer, but noted the situation is still fluid.

Joao Felix joined Chelsea FC on loan in January, but the Blues do not have the option to make the deal permanent. At the same time, the attacker signed a one-year extension to his Atletico Madrid contract, which will keep him at the club until 2027.

Although he was a regular under Graham Potter, the 23-year-old has only scored twice for Chelsea since joining, and Frank Lampard has only started him on the bench for the last two games.

When asked if he wanted to stay in London, Felix, who was acquired by Atletico for $113 million in 2019, responded that “no one knows” the future.
However, Felix’s decision may be influenced by Chelsea’s lack of participation in European football next season and the management situation’s uncertainty.

Prior to his loan move to Chelsea FC, it appeared that Joao Felix’s relationship with Atletico manager Diego Simeone was becoming more strained. This begs the question of whether Joao Felix would play a part at the club next season, and Cerezo has acknowledged the Portuguese star is unlikely to return.

He told El Larguero: “What’s next for Joao? He will have a place in the team if he comes back here, for sure

“We don’t know what will happen. In football, you can’t take anything for granted.”
