After another challenging weekend in which Chelsea F.C. were defeated 1-0 by Southampton, the league’s bottom-placed team, the calls for Potter to be fired have become louder.

While some Stamford Bridge supporters vocally venting their anger following the defeat, which left them with just two victories in their previous 14 games, the club’s board appears to still be fully behind Potter and is opposed to having him dismissed from his position.

According to The Telegraph there are long-term reasons to keep him in charge at least through the beginning of the next season.

The owners are reportedly pleased with Potter’s work off the field, despite the focus on results and performances.

The team’s training and analysis have been praised as “excellent,” and key decisions, like leaving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off the Champions League squad, have been made after board consultation.

The 47-year-old received criticism for resting superstars like Raheem Sterling, Thiago Silva, and Reece James against Southampton, although the team’s owners were aware of his reasoning in advance.

According to reports, Potter was warned that James, Silva, Kai Havertz, Sterling, and Mykhailo Mudryk were all in grave danger of incurring injuries, and Boehly and Eghbali have acknowledged his unselfish act.

Another criticism of Potter is that, especially when things aren’t going well, he doesn’t display enough emotion or rage on the touchline.

But, Graham Potter is alleged to have adopted a different approach behind the scenes, having difficult meetings with his players and expressing his displeasure with what they are dishing out on the pitch.
