Erik ten Hag says he is still the perfect man to restore Manchester United's glory days as they prepare to face Liverpool.

Ten Hag has lost his first two Premier League games, against Brighton and Brentford, putting United second bottom of the table heading into Monday’s match at Old Trafford against archrivals Liverpool.

Ten Hag is now under much more pressure than he ever could have imagined, but the Dutchman is adamant that his grand plan will succeed.
Ten Hag declared, “I’m not here for myself; I’m here to restore the club. ‘I knew before that this is a challenge and I wanted this challenge.

‘I knew before that it was going to be hard, but I wanted that because in my career everywhere the start was difficult but I got it done – and I’m convinced I (will) get it done here as well.
‘I chose this project. I knew it was a process and I will stay consistent to the philosophy and to the plan we had. I keep confidence in the co-operation I have in the players and also the coaches and the directors.’
Ten Hag resisted talking about the gap that has developed between United and Liverpool, despite the fact that his club would go ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side if they won on Monday.
