Eden Hazard has endured a difficult first two seasons in the Spanish capital, scoring just five times in 43 appearances following his huge transfer from Chelsea

Real Madrid have reportedly placed Eden Hazard on the transfer list and are open to offers for the former Chelsea winger.

Los Blancos only signed the Belgian two summers ago, in a deal that could reach as high as £130million with add-ons.

But it has so far been a nightmare for all parties, with Hazard struggling for fitness and scoring just five times in 43 appearances for the club.

He also came under fire for celebrating with his former Chelsea teammates after the Blues dumped Real out of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.

That has led to intense speculation that Real Madrid could attempt to cash in on the 30-year-old.

This time a year ago, Chelsea were announcing the signing of Thiago Silva, a once world-class player who many thought was now washed up, at least on the way down in his career.

That ended up to be very far from the truth. Silva was brilliant, and his leadership helped inspire Thomas Tuchel’s team to Champions League glory.

Would they be tempted to repeat the same trick with Eden Hazard if the opportunity was there? It would certainly be worth thinking about. The Daily Mirror today claim that the winger, who has had two seasons of struggles in the Spanish capital since leaving Chelsea, has been put on the transfer list.

It’s a lovely thought – the former Blue coming back in a blaze of glory – but we can’t see it ending the same way the Silva story did.
