Demba Ba congratulated Chelsea with a six-word message on Twitter after his former club’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
Chelsea secured a point on the road Saturday evening on their trip to Anfield in the Premier League.
First of all, Kai Havertz put the Blues ahead with his header from a corner kick.
Mohamed Salah then equalised for Liverpool with a penalty on the stroke of half time. Reece James was alleged to have handled the ball on the goal-line, so he was shown a red card and gifted the hosts the spot-kick.
Despite having a man advantage in the second half, Liverpool were unable to find a winner. It’s a testament to how well Chelsea defended in the second period that they didn’t concede any clear-cut chances.
Ex-Blues centre-forward Ba sent a message on social media after the weekend’s game.
“Chelsea spirit… What a fight. Bravo,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
In addition, ex-Chelsea assistant Jody Morris weighed in with a full-time assessment praising the Blues.
“Very well earned point,” he wrote on Twitter
Thomas Tuchel’s side leave Merseyside with just a point, but the squad has got to be full of real confidence right now. They defended like giants for 45 minutes to keep Liverpool out.
It does feel like something very special is bubbling at Stamford Bridge. The improvement we are seeing in both halves of the pitch is extremely telling.
