Thiago Silva will be hoping to bring home the Copa America for his country.

With at least one representative at each of the four Euro 2020 semifinalists, Chelsea are already guaranteed a European Champion this summer. Christian Pulisic won the Gold Cup in North America, the club could also have a South American Champion returning to Cobham.

Thiago Silva is also up to something good. The 36-year-old side have reached the final of the Copa America and will face either Argentina or Colombia for a chance to win the trophy.

Captain Silva and his Brazil compatriots reached the final of this year’s (delayed) Copa América after beating Peru, 1-0, in last night’s hard-fought semifinal — a far cry from the way this game went in the group stages, when Brazil easily swept aside the 27th-ranked team in the world, 4-0.

Brazil’s only goal, just as in the quarterfinals, was scored by Lucas Paquetá

Brazil now await the winners of Argentina versus Colombia in Sunday’s final, likely to be high-flying Argentina, who are actually threatening to win a major international tournament with Lionel Messi for the first time since the 2008 Olympics, when he was just 21.

The Chelsea star defender has been impressive at the back for Brazil

With one or more of Mason Mount, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Andreas Christensen, Jorginho, Emerson Palmieri or Cesar Azpilicueta in line to lift the Euro 2020 trophy on Sunday 11 July, Silva will be hoping to show off his second Copa America title when he returns from international duty.

The final of the South American tournament will also be played on Sunday 11 July, with Silva looking to add to his Champions League winners medal from last season.
