As per Evening Standard, it can be confirmed that signing a left wing-back remains an important move to be made in the ongoing transfer window.

Serious attempts were made to recall Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell at Lyon, which haven’t been successful as the French club have been reluctant to let go off the 27-year old and, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will make one final try this week to bring back the Italian.

Sources have consistently claimed that Chelsea are in talks with several players to fill in the left wing-back spot but none of them have reached in any sort of an advanced stage.

When asked about the same, the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel choosed his words very carefully: “I cannot say no to it. Also, I am not convinced it is a clear yes.”

From what the German said, it’s clear that Chelsea are definitely in the lookout for a talented player who can not only play in the absence of Chilwell, but also give a great cover to him in the upcoming seasons.

Chelsea have completed the signing of Derby County starlet Dylan Williams, but the 18-year-old is not expected to be thrust into Tuchel’s first-team squad.

The Blues return to action for the FA Cup forth round against Plymouth Argyle at Stamford Bridge on 5th of February, followed by the Club World Cup Semifinal on 9th February and a Premier league clash against Crystal Palace on 19th.
