Bayern Munich could reportedly be interested in trying to sign Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.

Mateo Kovacic, 28, is a talented central midfielder playing a key role in the Chelsea squad this season.

The Blues star may have been wearing the armband recently as the stand-in captain, but he’s still linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. In fairness, he’ll be in the final year of his contract at the club next season.

90min recently claimed that the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool share an interest in signing Kovacic.

There could now be yet another interested buyer in the £40million (BBC) star.

According to The Telegraph, Germany heavyweights Bayern Munich could join the race to sign Kovacic.

With Thomas Tuchel recently taking charge as Bayern’s new manager, we expected links to Blues stars.

The German coach enjoyed some fantastic times during his spell in charge at the Bridge, with the most obvious one winning the Champions League. There is now speculation he could try form a reunion at the Allianz Arena by bidding for Kovacic.

Tuchel is definitely a big fan of Kovacic, describing him as “outstanding” during their time working together last year.

Chelsea only need to look at the potential buyers in Kovacic to recognise letting him go would be a mistake.

Hopefully, all parties can come to an agreement for him to stay beyond a deal that expires in 2024.

He is bringing a lot to the XI right now as a midfield partner alongside Enzo Fernandez, which is one that is getting better with a string of games together.
