The Canadian international has started off strong under new manager Paulo Fonseca this season, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in his first 11 league games. His first two seasons at Lille haven’t quite reached the heights his move from Gent promised.
He proved he is one of the most productive goal scorers right now by scoring twice over the weekend in a 3-0 away victory against Strasbourg.
Graham Potter has reportedly taken notice of this, according to Jeunes Footeux, which has publish a piece on the subject on Monday.
According to them, Jonathan David has been “ticked on his shortlist” by the incoming Chelsea boss, who ‘wants to recruit a new striker” in January.

Todd Boehly‘s willingness to spend money on improving his team’s roster is well known, and Lille will demand a sizable sum for their star player given that they have consistently been successful in selling players abroad. Nicolas Pépé and Victor Osimhen are two good examples of this.
For this reason, according to Jeunes Footeux, if David is interested in leaving his current club, Chelsea will “need to demonstrate themselves financially persuasive, with an offer of at least €60 million” needed to persuade the Ligue 1 team to consider it.
