Chelsea offering €70m in fee with Tammy Abraham as part of the deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland

Chelsea has taken the first step in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The UEFA Champions League winners have submitted a player-plus-cash bid for the 20-year-old centre-forward, offering €70m in fee with Tammy Abraham as part of the deal.

Erling has grown into one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe over the past couple of years. After his stunning exploits with Austrian giants RB Salzburg, Haaland sealed a transfer to Bundesliga giants in winter last year, snubbing interest from several teams while doing so.

With a growing reputation, the interest in his services has also multiplied, with almost every superclub in Europe eyeing for his signing. However, it looks like it is the Blues who have made the first move in an attempt to try and sign the Bundesliga centre-forward.

Chelsea are in need of a new centre-forward given as Timo Werner has failed to make the kind of impact expected while Olivier Giroud is staring at an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. In addition, Tammy Abraham looks to have fallen out of favour under new coach Thomas Tuchel.

Kai Havertz has been used as a centre-forward, but Blues need someone more prolific if they are to compete on all four fronts and defend their UCL crown next campaign
