Chelsea F.C. have emerged as one of the clubs interested in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, six months after he was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge alongside Marc Cucurella and Graham Potter.
Chelsea Transfer News:
Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, appears to have a busy month of January ahead of him. Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caideo has now been revealed as the next signing after rumours that RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku‘s transfer to Stamford Bridge was “confirmed.”
Caicedo, whose contract at AMEX Stadium expires in 2025, has made 14 appearances for the Seagulls this season and has one goal to his credit. The Ecuadorian international, who had worked with Graham Potter before arriving Chelsea, has drawn interest from Real Madrid since joining the Premier League.
Independiente del Valle in Ecuador sold Caicedo to Potter in February 2021 for just £4.5 million. The midfielder played 16 times for Potter’s team and was rumored to be returning in the summer, but nothing came of it.
Caicedo has been mentioned in relation to a transfer to west London as the January transfer window draws near. Following his achievements in Qatar, Sky Sports reported that Liverpool F.C. and the Blues are competing to lure him away from Brighton.
Caicedo started all three of Ecuador’s World Cup contests and scored in the 2-1 loss to Senegal. His worth has increased as a result of his performances throughout the winter competition, and Brighton anticipates that he will fetch close to ten times what they bought for him.

The 21-year-old voiced his desire to reunite with Potter back in November, which provided Boehly with motivation to give the Seagulls what they are asking for in exchange for the midfielder.
He said this to Ole: “I think they are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there.”
Boehly and Potter are likely interested in bolstering the midfield area as well, given Jorginho and N’Golo Kante‘s contracts are set to expire at the end of the current campaign. Denis Zakaria‘s season-long loan from Juventus hasn’t worked out as planned, and Mateo Kovacic‘s injury troubles haven’t helped either.
There are other Ecuadorians who Chelsea F.C. are apparently interested in besides Caicedo. According to the source, Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen has been identified as a possible replacement for Josko Gvardiol. Hincapie’s deal with Xavi Alonso’s team runs until 2026, thus like Caicedo, he would be expensive to sign.
