Fernandez is eager to move before the transfer window shuts and is hoping Benfica would agree to sell, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
In order to finalize a deal with Benfica before the January transfer window ends, Chelsea is sending a group of representatives to Libson, according to Futebol.
According to reports, Chelsea, which is under pressure to complete a deal within the next 48 hours, will agree to pay £106m for the 22-year- old’s release clause in installments.
The choice was made after Benfica turned down Chelsea’s first, earlier-in-the-month offer of approximately £75 million plus bonuses.
