Levi Colwill, a defender on loan from Chelsea FC, is sought after ahead of the summer transfer window, but the Blues want the 20-year-old to extend his deal at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea Transfer News:
Levi Colwill will be given a legally binding long-term contract by Chelsea FC

According to the Evening Standard, Liverpool and Manchester City are planning to test Chelsea FC‘s resolve and are showing a lot of interest in the 20-year-old player. Levi Colwill, who is currently at Brighton on a season-long loan, has performed admirably this year when called upon by both Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi.

Levi Colwill has drawn a lot of interest, but Chelsea FC is confident that they can come to terms with the defender on an extension before his current contract expires in the summer of 2025. Although official negotiations for an extension have not yet begun, they are anticipated to do so in the summer when Levi Colwill returns to the team after his loan stint at the Amex Stadium.

This season, the English defender has appeared in 15 games for the Seagulls in all competitions. If not for a muscular challenge that held him out for around six weeks, it would have been more.

Levi Colwill said last month: “I haven’t thought about it, to be honest, every day I am working hard and that’s all I am focusing on. If I start planning for the future, then everything might not go well here and everything then changes.

“This is my main priority right now to work hard with my teammates. I have loved every minute of being here. I have learned so much even when I wasn’t playing, now I am getting minutes after coming back from injury, so I can’t complain.”

On Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, Brighton will play Chelsea with the goal of closing the 10-point deficit to the top four. Colwill won’t be ligible to play at Stamford Bridge against his parent club, though.

Chelsea FC has huge expectations for Colwill and sees him as an important part of their long-term strategy going forward. This is true even though Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Benoit Badiashile were just signed.

Liverpool are interested in Conor Gallagher

However, a number of players are expected to leave Stamford Bridge over the summer as the club attempts to balance its books after two extremely expensive transfer windows.

The Reds are positive of luring Mason Mount to Anfield, with the 24-year-old’s entourage growing increasingly dissatisfied with the lack of progress in contract negotiations with Chelsea. Meanwhile, Liverpool are keeping a careful eye on Conor Gallagher and his current situation, with the England international due to reach the final two years of his contract in west London.
