The former Chelsea defender has officially stepped down from his very successful coaching role at Villa.

Chelsea supporters have pleaded for club legend John Terry to ‘come home’ to Stamford Bridge after news of his departure from Aston Villa broke this morning.
The former Blues skipper joined the West Midlands club on a one-year contract as club captain in 2017, playing 32 games in the season. He then returned to the club a year later, becoming assistant head coach of Dean Smith’s coaching team.
On his decision to leave the Villans, Terry explained:
“It has been a tremendous honour and privilege to have spent these last three years at Aston Villa, but I feel now is the right time to make the extremely difficult decision to move on.
“I want to be as respectful to the manager and everyone at Aston Villa as I can and, having given my future serious consideration over the summer, I genuinely don’t feel it is fair to move into a new season without being certain of seeing that through.

“My immediate plan is to spend some quality time with my family and, thereafter, hopefully take up some invitations to visit clubs and managers around Europe to develop my aim and objective of becoming a manager.
“It has always been my ambition to move into football management and, providing the right opportunity presents itself, I feel ready to take up such a challenge.”
The news certainly got Chelsea fans talking, and dreaming of seeing their hero return to the capital.

Here are how a select number of Chelsea fans reacted to this news on Twitter.

@YLugiono smartly pointed out: ‘Opportunity to become the Swansea manager.’
@Ziyechman asked: ‘What next for JT?’
@amoljoshi also posed the question: ‘Is he coming home?’
@UgonnaYuji tweeted: ‘The next step for him.
‘He is welcome to learn under TT [Thomas Tuchel].’
@secker09, like many other fans, put: “Bring him home.”
@JeffreyPHIll said: ‘John Terry is leaving Aston Villa. Best of luck to him as he chases his dreams.
@Theocfc explained: ‘He should come back and be our defensive coach or be a real gaffer.
‘Whatever he does I’m backing JT all the way.’
However, Terry has admitted several times in the past that his ambition is to be a manager in the future rather than being an assistant coach.
But a Chelsea return as head coach in the long-term future could be on the cards for the player who was labelled ‘captain, leader, legend’ by the Blues faithful.
