Chelsea fans may have been wondering what the Blues’ pursuit of a new wing-back may mean for starlet Reece James. Well, according to recent reports, there is nothing to fear as manager Thomas Tuchel plans to use the young Englishman in a new position.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been weighing up plans for a new season as he gets set to begin pre-season training tomorrow for those players not involved in the Euros this summer.
Tuchel has a number of decisions to make on some long and short terms futures of his current crop, and which positions he wants to add strength in this summer.
One of those areas could be at the back, and according to John Cross of The Daily Mirror, Marquinhos from PSG is a player that he likes for this position.

Another position they may look to add to is the wide right area, with their public pursuit of Achraf Hakimi recently. He now looks set to join PSG, but according to Cross Tuchel wants ‘someone better on the ball out wide.’
James is currently away on international duty with England and although he has barely featured for Gareth Southgate, his talent is clearly admired as he continues to nudge Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka out of selection contention.

Despite being a stand out performer at right-wing-back in recent times, it has recently been claimed that Tuchel sees James’ long-term future as a right-sided centre-back and would prefer to sign a fresh face who is technically better on the ball in wider positions.
