The 21-year-old could be in for an extended run of first-team involvement this forthcoming campaign as Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel might decide against bringing in fresh blood to bolster his midfield department.

The Blues have been expected to splash the cash on a new midfield player in this summer’s transfer window with West Ham United’s Declan Rice the priority target for Tuchel in the run-up to the new season’s start.

Rice has been long linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and in light of his spectacular showings for England at the UEFA European Championships, talk of Chelsea intensifying their interest in The Hammers man has gained ground in recent weeks.

However, reports from The Express, suggest that Tuchel could be lured into giving the highly-promising Gallagher regular minutes on the pith next season rather than prioritise signing a new player for the Champions of Europe this summer.

The 21-year-old Gallagher spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, where he put in a number of impressive performances but ultimately could not prevent relegation.

However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is yet to have a pre-season with his side, having touched down in West London at the turn of the year to replace Frank Lampard.

Seemingly, his first session is likely to be made up of a number of players who were loaned out from the club last season, all looking to impress the German boss as they try to force their way into his plans for the upcoming season.

Gallagher falls into that bracket and most likely to be given the best chance of all the loan stars after establishing himself as one of the most talented players in the West Brom dressing room last term.
